Where? How? When?

Just another student blog

And it looks like the sun, but it feels like the rain…

[From the song "Do you feel loved?" - U2 (from the album Pop, released in March 1997).]

It’s been a very long time since the last time I wrote a post in this blog… It’s my fault but, as everybody’s i-am-back posts on this world, the reason is that I’ve been very busy studying, working and searching… In fact, I’m still that busy!

Presently I’m listening to U2’s Pop album. And, despite the fact that I’m borrowing another person’s account, I’m using for my very first time Spotify, the new iTunes-like streaming music program. It is fast and simple, and it has no delays and almost no ads. There are tons of songs, even though it is not difficult to search for top-stared albums and not to find them. I heard about this program a while ago, but I think Victor was the first person I know who tried it.

I’m not really sure why I have choosen this sentence as the main title of this post, but it is no secret that I like this song very much… And the whole album, by the way :-) That reminds me that we have managed to get some tickets for the new U2 tour, that will start at Barcelona (the 30th June of 2009). It was extremely easy: just four clicks and it was gone (some valid banking information was also required, of course).

The song has meet an infinite loop… it is just playing again and again as the night goes on… I think I’m going to give Please a chance :-)

Good night!

Girl, you’ll be a woman soon

[A song by Neil Diamond. A cover performed by rock band Urge Overkill appeared on the 1994 Pulp Fiction film and soundtrack.]

It has been such a long time since my last post, talking about how and why I quit my weekend job. Probably, today and tomorrow I would have been required to work, but today I’ve been able to be lazing on this cold and frosty morning…

I’ve been extremely busy since then. A new baby has been born, we took part in a protest of civil nonconformity, studies and exams… No time to be bored, you know :)

I’d like to share with you all a good Dilbert strip “written” a few days ago, talking about important meetings and how to face them!

At last!

[A song by Etta James]

Finally, I quit my weekend job! It’s been a long time since I started helping elder people in 2002… But now my life has changed in some ways and I think I wouldn’t been able to resist this stress any single weekend more. I need to sleep!

By the way, this is how it all went out:

How to gracefully quit a job

Sultans of swing

[Talking about badminton :-) ]

I really like playing badminton, I have to admit it :-) It’s not unusual for me to hear people saying it’s not a real sport because it’s too easy, or saying that only girls like to play it! In fact, it’s a very physically demanding sport, often even more than tennis or squash. Read more »

Be aware of your processor temperature!

All electronic devices produce heat while they are in use. It is produced due to Joule’s first law, also known as the Joule effect, which is a physical law expressing the relationship between the heat generated by the current flowing through a conductor. The heat generated needs to be removed as soon as possible: if it is too hot, the device can stop working properly and can be permanently damaged. It’s plain to see that this is a problem that can’t be ignored!

Tell me what you see

[A Beatles' song ;-) ]

London is an amazing city… It is the largest city in, and the capital of, the United Kingdom, with a population of more than seven million people. However, I’ll try to describe the city in a subjective way, because official numbers are easy to find on the Internet but it is difficult to imagine what a city looks like without even having been there! So, please, let me speak about the cradle of the English language! Read more »

Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class (Wall·E)

[Talking about Wall·E]

Wall·E is the latest computer-animated science fiction film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and, probably, the best film of its kind since Toy Story. Definitely, a masterpiece of the genre!

Plot: In the early 22nd century, the Earth is so polluted that it’s not possible for anyone to live in it. It is suggested to live in the outer space for five years, and then return to it, whilst a crew of robots clean the planet up (known as Wall·E units). However, by the year 2110 the plan is canceled: the atmosphere of the Earth is too toxic. People won’t be able to live on the Earth never again, it will no longer support life. Read more »

English exam level test

[Talking about July, 28th 2008]

Today I’ve woken up a 7:50 am, so the breakfast room was very crowded – I’ve had to queue for a while!. The receptionist told me the breakfast time was from 7:00 to 9:00 AM but, even though I set the alarm up at 7:00 AM, I was too sleepy at the time… Read more »
