Sultans of swing

[Talking about badminton :-) ]

I really like playing badminton, I have to admit it :-) It’s not unusual for me to hear people saying it’s not a real sport because it’s too easy, or saying that only girls like to play it! In fact, it’s a very physically demanding sport, often even more than tennis or squash.

Badminton is a racket sport played by two or four players. They take place in a rectangular court, divided by a net. It is often said that it resembles a lot to tennis, but that’s not completely true: their rules are similar, that’s all. Players score points by striking a shuttlecock with their raquet, trying to pass it over the net and hoping it lands on the opponent area. The shuttlecock has an unique aerodinamical shape, because it’s not rounded like those used in most of sports.

This famous sport can be played by groups of any age and at all levels. It requires good skills, agility and fast reflexes, and can be helpful to strength your legs, arms, wrists and flexibility. But be careful: it can be dangerous to those people who suffer from their back.

I’ve been playing badminton for a long time, and I think of it as a funny and exciting sport! Give it a chance and then judge it! I prefer to play it in the morning, but it’s always played indoors and, preferably, with three other people :-) Would you like to join “our team”!?
